It all began in 1958 near Springfield KY, in a portable tent rink. The name Champs comes from the founder Armand "Champ" Champa. Champ bought his first building rink in 1960 located in Valley Station (Louisville) KY, and from there expanded to greater Louisville and in 1974 to Lexington. The current expansion in Lexington is located at 297 Ruccio Way, off Reynolds Road behind Meijers. This State of the Art facility houses one of the elite Skate Centers in the World as well as Laser Zone & Lost City Arena Laser Tag facility. The Shady Vine Restaurant, opening in Fall 2007.
